THE BRIEF: 

Saatchis London are looking to hire a head of Account Handling to nurture the department so that it can work in partnership with the creative department who are hitting their form. This person will embody the Saatchis spirit of “Nothing is Impossible” - leading by example.

Jonny Ray - Group Business Lead, Above + Beyond.

Jonny unites an entrepreneurial spirit with creative energy. He is a superstar and we know Above and Beyond would fight to keep him. He oversees all client business and essentially runs a growing account handling department. At Above + Beyond Jonny has led the Oneplus work which is a global business (See the work Never Settle & Unlock your speed), and Amazon business where they launched Amazon Music to the UK and also Amazon fashion to the USA (working with the creative director of Amazon UK and their Seattle office). He has been across most of their new business pitches and recently won the Subway business which he also now runs. Alongside this, Jonny oversees the agency training programme to foster a culture of learning and development within the agency.

Previously he worked at FCB Inferno where his key achievements were: the work for Barnados which won 15 awards, including 3 D&AD’s and a Bonze at Cannes, leading and then winning the lastminute.com pitch working directly with the founders to re-imagine their business model, and finally providing a bank of content for the Department of Education - this was an incredibly complex set up and involved lots of stakeholder management to take people on the journey with him..

He is pretty happy at Above + Beyond but if there was a frustration - it would be around not being in a position to make the work he really wants to be making. It is a very project based business which is moving more towards the strategic brand consultancy space and wants to work somewhere where he can make great work at scale. He is very interested in having a conversation about the head of account handling role plus he could be interesting as a lead on BT.

Laura Nowell - Ex Head of Talent at Anomaly, London

Laura is passionate about the intersection of humanity and creativity. A trained life coach, she was brought into Anomaly to help nourish the people behind the work, free their minds, empower their personalities so that ultimately the work could flourish.  She is definitely a very special human being, and whilst at Anomaly also ran the Lego business as Managing Partner, so understands the stresses and strains that comes with running business. If you would consider making the head of account handling, more of a pureplay people role, then she could be really interesting, and potentially a statement of intent to support and build the department into enablers of creativity. I don’t think she would be totally closed to running business too (in order to be attached to revenue) and is very adept, but where she can make the most difference is on the people side of things. Laura has taken some time out, so it’s worth noting that you could test the waters with her in a temp to perm capacity too.
